ON-SITE SAFETY, JOISTS ARE UNSTABLE UNTIL BRACED LATERALLY

WARNING: Failure to follow proper procedures for handling, storage and installation could result in unsatisfactory performance and unsafe structures.

All timber blocks, hangers and struts must be completely installed and properly nailed.

Lateral restraint must be provided by a diagonally braced and blocked system, comprising a minimum of 3 adjacent joist in each bay. In long bays install additional systems spaced not greater than 10 metres. See Bracing.

These instructions are offered as guidance to good practice in the handling and storage of Finnjoists and Kerto LVL.

These are general recommendations, in some instances additional precautions may be required. In all cases the procedures used should be as specified by the architect/engineers responsible for the structure, alongside your companies HSE manual.

All joists, blocking, connections and temporary bracing must be installed in accordance with the recommendation in the Metsa Wood Finnframe floor systems brochure before erectors are allowed on the structure. We recommend installing the working platform as soon as practically possible.
